Handcrafted Yuthok – Traditional Tibetan Iconography, Mercury-Gilded & Oxidized Copper

This is a grand, 1‑meter tall statue of Yuthok, weighing approximately 76 kg, conceived and crafted with deep respect for the ancient healing and spiritual traditions of Tibetan medicine and Buddhist iconography. The project draws on the lineage of Yuthok’s teachings and the living tradition of Tibetan medical‑spiritual practice as maintained today by Dr. Nida Chenagtsang.

Spiritual & Medical Heritage

The figure of Yuthok Yönten Gönpo is revered as the founding master of traditional Tibetan medicine — known as Sowa Rigpa — and the originator of the canonical medical treatise rGyud bZhi (the Four Medical Tantras).
Beyond medicine, he is also associated with a full Vajrayāna practice‑cycle known as Yuthok Nyingthig — the “Heart‑Essence of Yuthok” — which integrates healing, meditation, and spiritual cultivation.

Our sculpture is created as more than a decorative object: it embodies this heritage. It is intended as a symbol of healing, protection, knowledge, and spiritual balance — a bridge between the physical and the sacred. The design and iconography draw from traditional Tibetan medical symbolism and Vajrayāna representation, honoring centuries of lineage and philosophy.

Craftsmanship & Artistic Execution

  • Technique: The statue was made using the classic lost‑wax casting method, beginning with a hand‑carved wax model and refined through casting, carving, finishing, and polishing — all carried out in‑house by our skilled artisans.
  • Materials & Finish: The body is predominantly copper with a partial oxidized finish to impart an antique, grounding appearance. Select areas — sacred elements, ornaments, and symbolic details — are enhanced with mercury gilding (gold) to represent purity, healing energy, and sacred brilliance.
  • Weight & Scale: At 1 meter height and 76 kg weight, the statue has a commanding physical presence — meant to serve as a central piece for meditation spaces, healing shrines, or collectors who appreciate spiritual art with gravitas.
  • Detail & Proportion: Special attention was given to proportions, posture, and iconographic accuracy so that the sculpture reflects respect for traditional Tibetan aesthetic and symbolic norms.

Purpose & Intention

This statue was commissioned with the intention of honoring the living tradition of Tibetan healing and spirituality. Under guidance inspired by Dr. Nida Chenagtsang and the Yuthok lineage, the piece is conceived as a physical representation of holistic well‑being — mind, body, and spirit. It aims to bless its space with healing energy, wisdom, and balance, and to stand as a timeless tribute to a lineage that blends medicine, meditation, and compassion.
